Card Challenge #4

Firstly, can I just say I make a MESS when I’m crafting – I refuse to believe everyone else can do this stuff without getting ink/paint/glue all over their fingers and desk! I think even in a hazmat suit I’d struggle not to get ink on me. I also just had a ten minute fight with sequins; static + sequins is not a good combination…

So..! The new theme for The Male Room challenge is ‘nature’. I’ve got a leaf stencil which I’ve not used on a card yet so thought I’d dig this out.I bought the green texture paste the other day and hadn’t used it yet so thought this was as good a time as any to get this on my hands.

I decided I didn’t want to much else on the card since the background is so busy so stamped, coloured and die-cut some pineapples and a cute little chameleon.

Once the texture paste had dried, I decided I didn’t want so much white in the background: I thought maybe I’d colour it blue like a sky but ended up picking green I hadn’t used watercolour card but it was a heavyweight cardstock so I used a green watercolour marker and lightly coloured the background. I wasn’t too bothered about it being neat since the green is really subtle.

I trimmed the background down and stuck it onto a yellow card. I die-cut the sentiment and stuck this on along with the pineapples and chameleon.

Finally I stuck on a few yellow and green sequins and began the battle of putting the rest back in their tub!

  1. Fab card!! I love that wonderful background and the very cool chameleon. Lovely tropical feel with the jungle leaves, the lizard, and the pineapples!! I haven’t been brave enough to try texture paste through my stencils for a long time. Thank you for the inspiration to get completely messy……because I am the SAME way with ink all over me and everything around me! Ha. Hope you are having a good day!

  2. Well thanks for going to all that messy trouble to make this fantastic card – it was worth it. (BTW I got some on the carpet too lol!) Perfect for our challenge at The Male Room.
